Céline believes sexual wellbeing Is a human right and is committed to normalizing conversations around sexuality. It is her belief that everybody should have the freedom to feel safe in their sexuality and have universal access to evidence-based information and awareness of support services.
She
is impassioned by the necessity to have an objective and comprehensive
sexuality education available in schools, and colleges, to enable empowered and
informed decision-making by young people.
To support young people to adult sexual development, it is also
necessary to encourage teachers, parents and guardians to actively engage with
evidence-based research around sexuality, and to examine any harmful personal beliefs
about sex and sexuality.
Young people’s
sexuality should not be shaped by shame, but by healthy open discussion around
boundaries, values and relationships.
An ethos of life-long learning is valued and Céline brings this into her work, believing that sexuality education is valuable at any age and in all environments.
Through her involvement in adult education as both a group tutor and student, she has learned the value of combining life experience with education to facilitate change.
Celine is at her happiest when in a wetsuit with her children in the sea along the West Cork coast. She is an all weather sports enthusiast and coaches young children in surf lifesaving skills and water safety.
Outcomes of comprehensive sex education are…. Appreciation of sexual diversity, dating and intimate partner violence prevention, development of healthy relationships, prevention of child sex abuse, improved social and emotional learning, and increased media literacy
